A medical assistant is a healthcare professional that works alongside doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff. Medical assistants are found in physician offices, hospitals, clinics, and a variety of other locations. In some larger facilities, they are oftentimes specialized in a particular area, whether clinical or administrative. In smaller practices, a medical assistant will likely be found performing a variety of both administrative and clinical tasks and helping to keep the office running smoothly.

Join our Medical Assistant Pre-Graduation Program

Genesis Health Care System offers a post-extern program for medical assistant students to begin their careers that pays $16.54 per hour.  Learn more about our program below:

Genesis Commitment

  • Genesis will provide appropriate training, orientation, and competency review upon hire as a medical assistant student.
  • Genesis will only allow employees to work within their scope of practice.
  • Genesis will increase your pay to the MA rate once you transfer into the MA position.
  • Genesis will provide clinical orientation and mentoring experience that will help you become a successful medical assistant.

Student Rewards & Expectations

  • Students must be currently enrolled in a medical assistant program and currently interning to qualify for MA student position and can start the position once the extern is completed.
  • Students may apply for a medical assistant student or medical assistant position on our website: www.genesishealth.com/careers.
  • Students that are currently employed by Genesis are eligible to apply for a medical assistant student or medical assistant position once beginning their externship.
  • Genesis will pay you a $100 bonus on your first paycheck as a status medical assistant to reimburse you for the cost of your medical assistant certification.
  • The medical assistant student pay range is determined by your applicable experience.
  • Once you have successfully graduated and are in good standing, you will transition into a medical assistant.
